South Fork Trail to Dry Lake

This episode is about a winter day hike we did from the South Fork Trail to Dry Lake in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. With a winter storm approaching, we hiked toward the North side of San Gorgonio Mountain. Using the South Fork Trail, we passed the headwaters of the Santa Ana River to reach our destination of Dry Lake, sitting near the base of San Gorgonio Mountain. Along the way I give trail descriptions, our thoughts and sounds of hiking in the winter in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. I also talk to a group of young hikers and skiers who braved the night in the high altitude.

This special edition of Anthonys Audio Journal is about a day hike I did along the Nepali Coast of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands.
I snuck away from my family vacationing in Poipu and drove to Kokee State Park where I combined three hiking trails into a semi-loop hike. I explored the famous knife edge ridglines and viewed the lush valleys of the Nepali Coast famous in movies such as Jurassic Park, Six Days and Seven Nights and Mighty Joe Young.
I open the show with some beautiful Hawaiian music," ALoha Oe" from Barney Isaacs and Billy Hew Len from the cd "Steel Guitar Magic Hawaiian Style". Please visit the Mountain Apple Company to hear more island music.
